Internet Access by mobile devices and cellular phones on the increase

More than 33 million people in the United States have used cellphones to access the Internet in 2007, according to Nielsen Media Research. Nielsen estimated that eight million people viewed video on their phones during the first three months of the year. One-quarter of all people aged 18 to 34 use their phones to access the Internet, Nielsen said. And we're behind the curve. Japan's mobile phone industry is 1.5 years ahead of the United States. Subway riders tap messages to friends, listen to music and play games on their handsets. More than half of Japan’s cell-phone users own speedy 3G broadband phones. All of this progress is not going unnoticed. InfoSpace will roll out a new mobile search engine designed for easier use than those offered by Google and Yahoo!. In 2007 the mobile advertising market will be worth $450 million, according to market research firm Frost & Sullivan. Analysts expect mobile search and surfing to become even more popular in the years ahead. Is your organization ready? We are.
